Update for May 25-29 WEEK 10 The only real news that you’ve probably already heard is that schools will remain closed for the rest of the year. I am sad that I won’t be able to see you all at least one more time in person but I think this is the best solution for everyone’s safety. I believe that the school board and school is working closely with safety officials with the provincial government to try to find a safe way for you to enter the school one more time in June to clean out your lockers and to pick up anything you may need. Stay tuned to my website and please continue to read your emails regularly as I’m sure you will be receiving updated information a lot in the coming few weeks.
Assignment # 9 - Week on May 25-29 Due Sunday May 31st.
So you have some choices on this assignment depending on your current circumstances and your interests. Please read the assignment carefully and answer the question that you feel is the best for you at this time. Let me know clearly what question you are answering in your response.
Option #1: If you are working during the pandemic (I know many of you are), please tell me specifically what you do at work. Where do you work? What do you do at this job site? Who is your supervisor? How are they ensuring safety measures at this time? Please list all the safety measures that are in place. What skills are you learning? What do you like best about this type of work? What do you find challenging about this type of work? Please be detailed in your answers. IF you are babysitting children (siblings or neighbourhood kids) this counts as work. You can choose to answer this question as well.
Option #2: I’d like to read about a day in the life of you during the pandemic. Now that things are gradually opening up, I imagine you are perhaps getting out more. Select any day this week. Write me a timeline of what this day is like. Things to include are: -What time do you usually wake up? -What do you do around the house - chores, playing games, social media stuff etc.. -What do you do for fun? Have you been going out? Did you go to the tulip festival at Dow’s Lake for instance, do you bike ride a lot and where do you like to go? Do you play a bit of sports with friends or family? Some of you may have dyed your hair for fun. FYI: My husband grew a big beard and I just dyed my hair a really dark colour. :) -What kind of food have you been eating? I know this sounds weird but I find I’m eating much healthier during the pandemic. I got pretty sick in March and I started being healthier after that scare. So maybe you find you are trying to eat healthier. OR Like so many of my friends, you are eating a lot of comfort food and junk food which is okay too. :) -How are you staying safe? What safety precautions are you taking? What is the new normal for you now? I wear a mask when I go to the grocery store or to any place inside. I wear gloves only if I go to a big store like Costco. I use hand sanitizer a lot. I keep some in my car and use it when I come back to the car. When I go for walks I keep my distance but I don’t wear a mask.
Option #3: Tell me about another course you are taking and what you are doing? I’m always curious to see what my teacher colleagues are doing with you folks and maybe learn from them. This is all so new to us. Pick another subject that you are currently taking. What are some of the assignments that you’ve been asked to do? How does your teacher communicate with you (zoom chats, emails, videos, website, Hapara workspace?) How are you doing in this class? Are you keeping up with the work? Tell me a few things that you are learning. What is working well for you (maybe the zoom chats or videos or choice in assignments).
